About Us

The New River Humane Society & Fayette Animal Control Center

The New River Humane Society is home to many abandoned, stray, and neglected or abused animals. We work hard to find forever homes for these animals quickly, ensuring that our animals are happy and that our shelter has room for all those in need.

Strays (pets brought to us that were running loose) are held for five days, and then made available for adoption. Surrendered pets (those brought to us by the owner) are available for adoption immediately.

While animals are here, they receive their first vaccinations (Distemper, Parvo, Bordetella), are de-wormed, and provided medical care when necessary.

Our Mission

New River Humane Society, Inc. has two primary goals: (1) to ensure that each dog and cat receives the undivided attention of every shelter staff person, volunteer and veterinarian, from grooming and health/fitness to one-on-one contact by way of walking, talking and petting; and (2) to educate the public on the consequences of animal abuse and neglect.
